Bequests

A bequest through your Will or living trust is the easiest and most effective means to ensure that your assets are distributed as you wish. Did you know that including Hospice of the Comforter in your Will can be a lasting - and financially astute - way to make a gift? It is a revocable gift and doesn't have an immediate cost to you other than for the preparation of the document.
Bequests can take several forms:
- A percentage of the net estate. This is the most common type of bequest. It reflects your intentions no matter how large or small your estate is at the time of your death.
- A specific bequest such as a gift of cash, securities, real estate or other personal property.
- A residual bequest is a gift where you may stipulate Hospice of the Comforter to receive whatever remains in your estate after your other beneficiaries have received what you bequeathed to them.
- A contingent bequest can be used to designate Hospice of the Comforter as the recipient of a portion of your estate if one or more of your named beneficiaries passes away before you or disclaims a share of your estate.
It’s simple to include Hospice of the Comforter in your Will. Ask your legal advisor to insert this statement:
"I give and bequeath to Hospice of the Comforter, a Florida nonprofit corporation located in Altamonte Springs, FL, the sum of $____ (or ____ percentage of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate) to be used for its general purposes as such shall be determined by its Board of Directors.”
Ways you can leave a planned gift to Hospice of the Comforter include, but are not limited to:
- Bequest from your Last Will and Testament or living trust
- Beneficiary designation from life insurance policies, annuities or IRA and other investment accounts
- Life income agreements such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder unitrusts
- Payable on Death (POD) or Transfer on Death (TOD) forms attached to bank or investment accounts
