Hospice House

Hospice of the Comforter’s Hospice House provides supportive, compassionate 24-hour care for patients who require short-term, special attention for acute symptom management.

Hospice House features 16 private suites and bathrooms. Each suite has access to a lanai and outdoor garden.

Other amenities at Hospice House make it a peaceful, home-like environment for both patients and visitors. A chapel provides a quiet place for prayer, meditation and small gatherings. A bright, cozy family room invites families to gather together to enjoy conversation, watch television or allow children time for play.

The café is a comfortable place to grab a snack, enjoy a meal or take a moment to relax. A visitor’s shower and laundry room is also available, in an effort to ensure all the comforts of home are available to patients and visitors alike.

At Hospice House, we hope that we may comfort and support you during this intimate journey.

If visiting, these are some good things to know:

Visiting Hours & Young Visitors

We value patients and loved ones spending time together. Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, unless restricted by the patient or doctor. Children are always welcome visitors at Hospice House. A playroom is available for our young visitors. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times to keep Hospice House a quiet, peaceful and safe place for everyone.

Neighborhood

When visiting Hospice House, our front desk volunteers are happy to share information on local places of worship, hotels, restaurants and points of interest.

Counseling Services

Chaplains, social workers and bereavement staff provide emotional care, discharge planning and other assistance to patients and their loved ones.

Personal Items

While all necessities are provided, small, non-valuable items that provide comfort are a welcome addition to a patient’s suite. We encourage you to bring your loved one a favorite item from home (such as a picture or blanket) but will ask to send home items of monetary value.

Food Service

Hospice House patients receive meals and snacks. Our kitchen staff prepares meals according to both nutritional needs and individual tastes. Visitors may also enjoy light meals and refreshments for a modest donation.

Sleeping Over

One or two overnight guests are welcome to sleep in the patient’s suite. Please consult our staff, who will be happy to make overnight sleeping arrangements.

Pets

Dogs and cats are welcome visitors. Bring proof of rabies vaccination on your pet’s first visit and maintain close control of your pet at all times. Leashes are required inside Hospice House.

Tobacco-Free Campus

Hospice of the Comforter is a tobacco-free campus. Please respect the health of our employees, volunteers, patients and visitors by refraining from tobacco use while visiting our campus.
