Compassionate People Providing Compassionate Care Since 1990

20 Years of Care

January 06, 2010 | By: Melissa Silvers, Communications Manager

20 years of care

Twenty years ago, Hospice of the Comforter served our first patient. During that first year, we cared for only ten patients. Today, we serve over 700 patients a day.

Whether we are providing support to a caregiver, comfort to a patient or a compassionate heart to a bereaved community member, the work we do is driven by our mission to be compassionate people providing compassionate care.

We are touched on the most intimate levels by those we serve - the smile of a patient, no matter how old or how small, the embrace of a caregiver who needed support. Our team members receive countless thanks for the work they do, yet it's our team members who are most grateful for the many journeys they have been invited to experience.

We are grateful for the support of the angels of our community: the volunteers and donors who support us. Because of you, thousands of our community members can receive end-of-life care or grief support regardless of ability to pay.

Thank you for allowing us into your homes and your hearts during the past 20 years. We look forward to many more years of continued service to our Central Florida community. Help us celebrate by sharing this blog, joining our Facebook group, volunteering for our cause, giving to make a difference in a patient's life, or sharing your story or your thanks.
